You clever girl, you. What a lovely sideways look at the whole thing (and Tara and Mr Mysterio? Oh, a match made in heaven, even if I think you might be pushing the daddy angle a little far by making her ten, shame on you).

And your writing, as ever, brilliant.

Pique? Is one lucky girl.

oh, tarte!!! this is the most wonderful, brilliant, magical gift fic ever! i can't believe you wrote it! I can't believe how many clever and delightful little nudges you fit in!

first of all, i adore the character of the dad! as usual, you manage to realize him fully and movingly with so few words. you are so amazing.

and then there is henry! eeee!

His black hair is shiny and slicked, but sticking up at the crown as if he's rubbed accidentally against a wall.

oh, he's been rubbed against a wall all right! o_O

and Mr Mysterio! the huge and sinister black bird with its angry croaking. so excellent!

Long black hair, pale severe face and a nose not much less extravagant than the bird's beak.

HEE!

I can see how a dove would hardly have been appropriate.

HEE HEE!

A disproportionate number of tricks in their act seem to involve pulling things from Henry's mouth.

It would be a completely different act if the tricks involved putting things in Henry's mouth, wouldn't it? I love yoU!

and their final trick! OMG SO GREAT!!!

yayayay! *claps hands*

i am so so so so thrilled you like it, p. i'm sorry it is not the longer fic we talked about, but i tried to pack in as much as poss.

It would be a completely different act if the tricks involved putting things in Henry's mouth, wouldn't it?

:O half-term show! we can only speculate as to mr m. and henry's late-night cabaret routine. :DDD

happy birthday again, p! i'm glad you had a nice time. you deserve all the best pressies. <3

Oh, this is charming, tarte! I love this glimpse into the H/S relationship and the funny sense of complicity the reader gets, knowing what's going on. The narrator's wonderful, fussy, practical, an excellent foil for Tara, who believes in the magic and sees something in Snape. Brava! Maggie

thank you, mag!

that sense of complicity is what i love about muggle-pov fics (and alternative pov stories, like you do so brilliantly). i'm so pleased you liked this. :D

For a story that's supposed to "make little or no sense to anyone else", I thought it was wonderful!

Loved the imagery of corvid!Snape, with his wings spreading much larger than should be possible, and his bored reaction is perfect. Harry's moment of relief when Snape reappears is touching and the way their earlier tricks involved Harry's mouth just had me grinning madly.

*racing off to rec*

hey, thank you! i'm flattered.

i'm actually really surprised by the appeal this ficlet apparently has. thank you so much for the rec.

the way their earlier tricks involved Harry's mouth
