Let's Kill Hitler thoughts

For now a bullet point list of all the things I liked (+) and the things I was more 'meh' (-) about. I will be blunt. I hated NOTHING.

+ I adore Mels and I was like, "That's River" as soon as I saw the line through the word "Doctor". Um, who else would crash a reunion with the Doctor other than River Song?

+ I also adore that clearly Melody was actually very, very crazy. And she didn't soften to the Doctor at first sight. The woman who was Mels grows into River, but you can see she's an utterly different person. Props to Alex Kingston for acting that.

+ PONDS.

+ Little tiny people inside a mechanical person! LOL.

- Ugh. Why is Melody obsessed with her weight/looks? I am unenthused.

- I'm unimpressed with the idea that growing up with her should be anywhere as good as raising her. NOT THE SAME, MOFF. Not that I thought that they'd get to raise her, but it was just kind of depressing.

+ I choose to read this as on purpose meta, but with the holograms, it's kind of a jab at RTD style Doctor Who that all of the companions (ALL OF THE COMPANIONS) are a reason for "guilt" and the only one who the Doctor hasn't messed up is Amy.

I think that kind of talks about the show that Moffat wants to run - one where he's not going to ruin companions just so the Doctor suffers. Instead, Melody Pond saves the Doctor at the expense of her future lives, BUT she lives and she becomes fabulous.

It's not implied that the Doctor took away her chance at happiness forever (Rose, Donna, Rose again) instead by saving him she gains a chance at happiness that she wouldn't have as a self-proclaimed psychopath.

It's very much the message that "EVERYONE LIVES."

+ Amy sacrificing her own life and Rory's for her daughter's.

- Amy not being more awesome.

+ DOCTOR WHO IS BACK.
