Random Hunger Games thought

It's really sad to be a Gale/Katniss shipper. Like, I know that the pairing doesn't happen (thanks epilogue!) but I still want them to get together.

Also, I'm kind of weird that some people defend "Mockingjay" as "realistic" because it shows Katniss with PTSD. And that it shows her with real effects of the stress she's been under for 2 years.

I'm not saying that kids books shouldn't deal with that. I am 100% in favor of kids books dealing with real issues. Real kids have PTSD, real kids are forced to fight in wars, are forced to kill people.

What I am saying is that Mockingjay isn't that good of a book. It isn't that good of a book because the plot is so random, so convoluted, so contrived. It isn't that good of a book because Katniss doesn't do anything for the whole book.

It is really lazy, random, and it felt untrue to who she was. Sure, she probably would have had extreme PTSD in real life. But the thing is? It still makes for an awful book because it never head on addresses her PTSD. It uses it to explain lazy writing and explain why every major event in the story was told and not shown.

ANYWAY. I'm still sad that Katniss and Gale don't get together and have crazy survivalist adventures.
