Did anyone else watch last week's episode? That was way more torture porn than I'd expected to see on either criminal minds or network tv. Moreover, it was so bizarrely at odds with the emotional plot line of Reid being mad at JJ.

I ended up not being able to watch most of the episode. On top of the torture porn, it was just plain offensive to the mentally challenged and transients. Add this episode to the one about Romani culture as big missteps in writing.

YES. I had to skip scenes because it was too much. And I was actually really insulted that they pointed to his cognitive atypicality as the reason he was a serial killer.

I just skimmed through it. I don't know what's happened to Criminal Minds in these last two seasons, but they've gotten really graphic and violent. Sigh, I still love my show though and I feel vindicated that they brought back JJ and Emily. Also, I so agree with you on the whole Reid thing. I mean I guess I get it that maybe Reid was just too happy to have them back to deal with it, but after, I thought this might be an ongoing thing this season. Not for the whole season, but definitely more than just one episode.

Do you think there's going to be a whole thing about Reid's mom? Since Reid kept mentioning how he has a lot of his plate and problems with his mom.

I hope they do something with his mom. She's such a huge part of his life, but she's been out of the picture for a few seasons now.

Well the actress who played her is doing Glee (I will keep my opinion to myself on this show :-P) so maybe that's why?

I would love to see his parents guest star. On that note, we haven't seen Morgan's family since season 1 I believe. I would love to see them again. And do you know what happened to that woman he was dating? You know, that vic's sister (?)?

I think she broke up with him after a while. I think it went something like, "Thanks for your help, I'm moving away, maybe when I'm not a basket case, we can get together?"

Or that might have been in my head.

I've actually seen the first two episodes of the current season. My roommate's into it. I've kind of thought it was a pile of badly written shit. But hey, that's me.

Yeah, this season is absolutely not representative of what I like about the show. They absolutely were badly written shit. :(
