Do you have any advice as to fixing my sidebar/header? The former doesn't seem to be able to decide whether it exists or not, and the latter doesn't want to be the right size.

well, you need to make sure you click on NO on all the tabs in the code page in the customizations area. There isn't a sidebar in this layout, it's at the top of the entries instead because the header was too narrow and I've turned off a lot of the things like the calendar, tags, etc. I only have the blurb and links showing or it doesn't work.
