The weather was getting chillier as each day passes by and Junsu tugged his black scarf tighter around his neck to keep himself warm. He struggled, trying to balance his messenger bag and a few books in one arm while carrying a cup of hot coffee on the other hand. Thick jacket and scarf were not enough to keep him warm.
The bell finally rang, signaling that he better get to class before the second bell. He quickly finished his coffee, without burning his tongue and threw the foam cup into the recycling trash bin nearby the entrance of his department building and then finally made his way to the 3rd floor, where his classroom is located.
He arrived in class just before the 2nd bell rang and made his way to the back of the room. He took a seat near the window where he could stare outside just in case he gets bored. He removed his scarf and placed it on the right side of his desk and then his books right at front of him. Students filled into the class, also took their seats and finally their professor has arrived.
Minutes after the lecture has started, the door opened and someone entered. Everyone looked at the newcomer and Junsu tore his attention away from the window. His eyes widened when he recognized Park Yoochun upfront.
“I’m sorry I’m late, I tried to get here as soon as possible from the Lit department,” he heard Yoochun explain. The professor nodded his head with consideration, since the Lit department was located across the campus.
“Please take your seat,” the professor told him and Yoochun thanked him and turned towards the class, looking for an empty seat.
‘How could I forget that we share the same class…’ Junsu thought to himself as he watched Yoochun eye around the room and suddenly their eyes met. Junsu felt himself blush; he quickly looked away to his right and saw an empty seat beside him. He frowned and glanced around, and inwardly groaned when he realized that the seat beside him was the only vacant one.
Yoochun made his way to the empty seat, and Junsu willed himself to stay calm. He tried not to mind him but from the corner of his eyes, he could see Yoochun removing his own black scarf and placing it on his left side. And just like Junsu, he also placed his books at front and turned his attention to the lecturer.
Junsu could not wait for class to end, as his heart kept beating rhythmically fast. It was the first time his crush was sitting this close to him. Finally his class came to end and he quickly gathered his books. He clumsily stood up fast from his seat, knocking his scarf off from the desk in the process and giving Yoochun a slight surprise, also causing him to drop the item from his hand.
‘Ah! I…I’m sorry!” Junsu apologized, hastily picking up their scarves from the floor and handed the other scarf from his left hand to Yoochun and quickly left the room.
Yoochun chuckled softly at Junsu’s disappearing form and wrapped his black scarf around his neck before picking up his books. He took a deep breath and was about to move when he noticed a different scent. He removed the scarf, touched the material and inhaled it.
“This is not mine…” he mumbled and before he realized what had happened, he made a quick dash out of the room to catch the certain person.
Junsu was already outside of the department building, slightly shivering in the cold weather when he noticed the different texture of his scarf. He glanced down on his scarf and got a whiff of the scent. He frowned and removed the scarf and to his dismay, realized that it was not his own scarf.
“Wait!” Junsu heard and he turned around, Yoochun was walking towards him.
Junsu gulped down when he saw his own scarf in Yoochun’s hand.
“Here…I think…you gave me the wrong one,” Yoochun said, handing the scarf back to him.
“Uh yeah…my bad, I’m sorry…” Junsu took his scarf from him and handed the other scarf back to Yoochun.
Yoochun accepted it and wrapped it around his neck. He gave Junsu a small smile as he pocketed his right hand and the other, carrying his books.
“I’ll see you around,” Yoochun said and Junsu could only nod his head. Yoochun gave him one last look with a smile before heading off to his own way.
Junsu watched until Yoochun’s form disappeared from his sight. He glanced down on his hand and eyed the scarf. He brought it closer to his nose and inhaled it.
Junsu felt his lips forming a smile when he distinguished the vanilla spice from his own scent, the cold long forgotten.
‘I wonder…how your scent could make me feel so warm inside…’
