Summary: Junsu hates Math and will Yoochun be able to change his views on Math?

"This is basic Algebra and I don't understand how you failed the subject. Were you or were you not listening to Mr. Jung's lessons?" The homeroom teacher questioned one of his favorite pupils and he was baffled when he received no response from his pupil.

He suppressed a groan and massaged his temple as he tried to come with terms of his pupil's failure for the nth time in Mathematics.

"Junsu, what am I supposed to do with you? You failed every Math exams for this school year and you are going to have to repeat your junior year if you don't at least pass your next Math exam."

Junsu's eyes widened, "but Mr. Kim!"

"I told you to find ways to tackle with your problem. I don't exactly understand why you can do geometry but still fail in Algebra, considering that Algebra is the easiest."

"I think shapes are just much easier than numbers and symbols..." Junsu muttered.

"That's not the point here," the homeroom teacher glared before letting out a long sigh. "Look for a tutor and if you can’t find one, I’ll have Park Yoochun to tutor you,”

Junsu gaped at his homeroom teacher, “Pa-Park Yoochun sunbae? But…” he stammered.

His teacher cocked his eyebrows, “Why? Is there a problem with him? Oh wait, right,” he smirked, “you got a crush on him.”

Junsu’s eyes widened with surprise, “how did-“

“You’re forgetting that I’m dating your cousin,” his teacher grinned.

Junsu groaned and made a mental note to kill Changmin for spilling his secret to his teacher.

“Then, that settles it. I will assign you to be tutored by Park Yoochun for every week until it’s time for the finals and no complaining. I want you to pass this one rather than have you repeating the year and now shoo and leave me alone,” his teacher waved his hand in the air and Junsu rolled his eyes, picking up his bag and left the classroom.

And now, Junsu has to meet up with Yoochun everyday after class and they would go to his house for their tutoring sessions.

‘More like torture sessions,’ Junsu thought when they walked side by side on the way to his house. His homeroom teacher, or rather Jaejoong hyung, immediately requested Yoochun to tutor, and Yoochun was hesitant at first before he accepted it.

‘And remind me to kill Changmin hyung once I see him,’ he mumbled to himself.

“What was that?” Yoochun asked, glancing at him at the corner of his eyes.

Junsu blushed and shook his head, “nothing sunbae-nim,” he stammered.

“Tell me, why do you always fail in Math?”

“It’s boring and I don’t think Math serves a purpose in life,” Junsu said, “I mean, yeah you need subtraction, addition, multiplication and division but Algebra? Trigonometry? Calculus? I don’t see any purpose on those unless it’s just to make people think hard and look smart because they know it.”

Yoochun let out a soft chuckle, “that’s it?”

Junsu glanced at him and gulped at the sight of Yoochun smiling playfully at him, “I just can’t understand it at all but yeah, that’s it.”

They met everyday after school and walked to Junsu’s house. Junsu struggled almost everyday with their sessions for a few reasons. One, he could not solve it easily after being lectured and secondly, it was too difficult and frustrating for him to concentrate when his crush is just leaning few inches away from his face whenever Yoochun tries to help him solve.

It was torturing him. And he hated blushing a lot and resorted to keeping his head bowed low.

“I just can’t figure out why you can’t understand it. You manage to solve some but still, it’s not passable. You need to get at least sixty percent and you…” Yoochun groaned and shook his head with dismay.

“I’m starting to doubt myself that I’m not really a good tutor,” Yoochun added.

Junsu shook his head, “no! Really, you’re a good teacher I swear!”

Yoochun raised his brows, “If I am, then why are you unable to answer most of the problems?”

Junsu felt his mouth go dry. ‘Because you’re distracting me but how can I say that to you?’

Yoochun shook his head and folded his arms together; “I think that is it for today. I want you to go over those problems until you get the hang of it. If not, then I am really a bad tutor,” he said and got up from the chair.

“I’m sorry…” Junsu felt embarrassed, for giving him a hard time.

“Don’t sweat on it. Maybe Math just doesn’t agree with you,” Yoochun joked lightly and patted on his head, “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“How’s the tutoring sessions going?” Junsu felt an arm snaked around his shoulder and he glanced up with a scowl on his face.

“I am soooo going to kill you hyung.”

Changmin raised his brows and pulled his arm away, “what did I do?” he questioned.

“You ratted me out on your boyfriend! And now he’s teasing me endlessly!”

“I didn’t rat you out. I am just looking out for your best interest and you better be thankful instead. You get to spend time with him before he graduates. Didn’t you want that?” Changmin said as he took a seat beside Junsu on the dining table and grabbed a donut from the Junsu’s plate.

“Hey! That’s my donut!”

Changmin just took a big bite of the donut and grinned at his dongsaeng, “mine now,” he said as he chewed. “So seriously, how’s the tutoring?” he repeated.

Junsu groaned and hit his forehead on top of his textbooks.

“That bad huh?”

He shook his head, “I understood it- I mean, I get it already on how to solve some of the problems he gave me but hyung, it’s just so hard to concentrate every damn minute when he’s just right there beside me!” he whined.

“And it’s embarrassing that he would tease me once in a while and I can’t stop blushing like a stupid crazy fan girl who’s in love with an idol!”

Changmin nodded his head while he finished the last bits of his donut, “yes, like a stupid crazy high school boy who’s in love with his senior. That has been established since you were in 7th grade. And do I need to remind you that you chose to go to this school because you wanted to follow him. Stalker much?” Changmin grinned evilly.

“Oh no, don’t you dare tell anyone that!” Junsu cried as he grabbed Changmin’s free arm.

“Hmmm…I think Jaejoong knows about it…it must have slipped when I told him about your undying crush-yah stop hitting me!”

Changmin ended up with nasty bruises on his upper arm where Junsu punched him.

There were two weeks left before the exams and Junsu was still not improving. Yoochun was starting to get frustrated and as much as he’s enjoying tutoring Junsu and his company, he wanted to see good results.

“You have any assignments?” Yoochun asked as he leaned back against his chair.

Junsu pulled his bag and placed it on the table, pulling out his textbooks before slightly tossing. A notebook fell out of the bag on the floor and Junsu barely noticed it. Yoochun saw it and glanced at the open notebook when he was about to pick it up when he noticed the pages were filled with doodles, hearts, I <3 u’s and his name.

He was stunned.

“Yoochun sunbae-nim?” Junsu called for his attention and frowned when he saw the puzzled expression on Yoochun’s face. He followed his gaze and glanced down on the floor. He gasped when he realized what it was; he instantly picked it up and hugged the notebook to his chest.

“I…uh…” Junsu stammered, furiously blushing while he kept his eyes locked on the table.

‘So that is the reason why he kept on failing every session. I am distracting him,’ Yoochun concluded. He made no sound but continued to stare at Junsu before he opened his mouth.

“You will-“

“Sunbae-nim,” Junsu cut him off. He looked up from the table and stared back at him. “I like you…wait. I have been in love with you for a long time now. I think I had enough hiding this from you,” he confessed.

Yoochun pursed his lips together, suppressing his smile and said nothing.

“And that’s the reason why I am not doing well…I mean, I absolutely understand all your lectures and got them and you are a very good teacher. But you’re just very distracting to me…” he explained.

Yoochun tilted his head a bit and folded his arms across his chest without breaking their eye contact.

“And now that I’ve established what your problem is, can you at least try harder now not to let my presence distract you from passing the finals? Will you be able to accomplish that Junsu?”

Junsu winced at the rejection and accepted it. He knew he never had a chance at the first place but at least he could tell himself that he had tried than doing nothing at all.

Yoochun glanced at him silently when Junsu worked on his assignments and felt his lips move upward a bit.

For the remaining weeks left of tutoring sessions, Junsu managed to improve and score half of the mock tests that Yoochun made for him. They would never forget Junsu’s impromptu confession but Yoochun chose to ignore it, for Junsu’s benefits. However, Junsu has been feeling miserable and hid it so well. He only vowed himself to pass the exams, not wanting to put Yoochun’s tutoring sessions to shame. He did his best to study and felt proud when Yoochun showed him that he was improving.

Yoochun didn’t give him the cold shoulder at least. They stayed the same except Junsu has been less energetic than before. Yoochun understood that but he wasn’t going to change it, not yet but soon enough.

It was two days before the finals and the last of their tutorial session. Yoochun decided to give him one last final mock test for Junsu and the same test for Junsu to see the logic behind it.

"Here," Yoochun handed him a sheet of paper with one problem written on the paper.

"Just one?" Junsu frowned at the algebra equation, inwardly groaning on how much he despised it.

"If you get that correct, then you will get your answer," Yoochun added as he turned away to read a book.

"What answer?" Junsu questioned but only to be ignored.

He shrugged and picked up his pencil as he stared hard at the equation. No matter how many times he was given with a simple equation, he always made mistakes and seldom got it right.

'But answer to what?' Junsu pondered as he tapped the end of the pencil on the table, earning an irritated sigh from the senior.

"If you are unable to solve that equation..."

"Then what?"

"I don't know what to do with you anyway," Yoochun looked away and went back to his reading, “and I thought you were already improving.”

Junsu bit on his lower lip, trying to concentrate and remember what Yoochun taught him.

He remembered the formula and followed it. He was able to solve the first step and glanced up at Yoochun.

He could not understand but there was a nagging feeling in him that he has to get this equation right. And he has a feeling that if he didn't get it right, he will be regretting it terribly.

And he trusts his intuition very much.

He went back to solving and did it slowly, double-checking every time before he wrote the next answer.

And by the time he was almost done, it took him almost 10 minutes to solve the equation.

He glanced on the paper and frowned, it was just numbers with a symbol.

"Am…I correct? I is less than three-" Junsu stopped.

That was it.

He found the right answer.

9x-7i > 3(3x - 7u)
9x-7i > 9x - 21u
-7i > -21u
7i < 21u
i < 3u

It’s not i is less than three u.

Junsu instantly stood up from his chair and leaped towards Yoochun with his arms wide open. He landed ungracefully on Yoochun's lap and wrapped his arms around Yoochun's neck.

Yoochun was surprised, least to say that it was unexpected but he wasn't complaining. He suddenly felt at ease as he dropped the book from his hand and wrapped his arms around Junsu's waist, holding him close in place.

"Now I am going to enjoy Math from now on," Junsu mumbled shyly as he nuzzled his nose on Yoochun's nape.

Yoochun let out a hearty chuckle and kissed Junsu on the side.

"You better do or else."

Junsu pulled back and grinned at him, "or else what?" He asked.

"Or else you'l-" Junsu just latched towards his mouth and kissed him. Yoochun sighed happily and closed his eyes, kissing Junsu back and glad his effort was greatly rewarded.

It was I heart you.

i <3 u.
