Sheesh! Voltaire almost had the drop on him! If he hadn't said anything, he would have had an advantage over zombie-Valois. I know we have a cliffhanger here and Voltaire may still be able to defeat the zombie (zombie probably isn't the best term--suggestions anyone?) but if he doesn't, this will leave Paris pretty defenseless, when Colette will need all the power she can get to follow her father.

The plot is developing according as the authors want it to develop. It has always struck me that these long drawn out scenes are the Foglio's having a problem tying plot threads together. There are things that must be revealed (Jenka was Euphrosynia's bodyguard, of instance) and issues resolved before the story can proceed.

Zombie? Lich? Well, i suppose you can say he's undead. Did he die? Voltaire thought he was. It appears his armor is what is energizing him. He is deteriorating where it's been ripped off.

Eh, perhaps it will work as a distraction.

And somewhere across Paris a plaintive cry is heard, "What happened to the power? I haven't finished my baking!!"

This escalated quickly.

Also, Martellus receives yet another demonstration of how terribly out of his depth he really is in this company.

We don't see anyone else at the moment. Grandmama, Tarvek, Agatha, Zeetha, Violetta, Jenka, Oggie, Dimo, Maxim, Queen of the Dawn(?).
Where have all the partiers gone? There should be bodies everywhere. If Andronicus can emerge from down below, can the Geister?
This fancy smancy party is just getting started....

Given the blood we saw dripping out of the mass of stones I think the Geister are prooooobably crunchy paste.

Phil can only fit so many characters in a panel.

How many of those individuals could take Andronicus on right now? The Master appears to be the only one powerful enough at the moment. Grandma, Colette, Agatha, and possibly Tarvek are observing and calculating. They'll join in eventually. There's at least thirty more pages in this volume.
