What happens when you call up a removal firm and ask for an estimate?

Do they ask over the phone what you have, or do they come round and check it out?

Thanks

They should come round & check it out so they can see how much furniture you have & how many items in cupboards / loft / shed etc

I'd be interested to know how much you get quoted. We're due to be moving again shortly and a removal firm would be so much easier!

They will come round to suss out what needs moving, make sure that they will provide you with boxes to pack your things in, well thats if you wanted them.

Also dont forget to ask about the insurance just in case anything got broken or dropped!

lol

having had to do this very recently, I was surprised that no-one wanted to come round and look - they basically asked how many rooms, how far we were going and to what kind of house and then quoted per hour! And they *all* followed the same pattern of quoting by the hour rather than coming round to look!

you're more than welcome babes

Am sure the prices will vary seeing as you're "down south" lol - but as a guide - we were quoted between 30 and 35 quid an hour Mon-Thurs and slightly more over a weekend with a minimum of 4 hours I think. Boxes were charged extra on top (we got ours for a quid each) and some included insurance and some charged extra so watch out for that!!!

Good luck sweetie!

When do you think you'll be going??

Geez! ; It could/will cost the proverbial arm and a leg to get a removal company down there to take your stuff and then drive the winding complicated 3 hours-ish route up here.

Almost tempted to do it myself. Have nice big van, will travel!
Be a damn sight cheaper anyways, seeing as I wouldn't charge by the hour!

;)

Exactly what I was thinking.. with Caz's family around to help it probably wouldnt be too hard to do? I don't know how much furniture she has either - our flat was part furnished and we got a Luton van to move and that was fine :)
