It usually starts to feel like Christmas when the department stores break out the trees and ornaments, but lately nothing's had an effect on me. It has something to do with the evergreen tree. The fact that it stays green year round and doesn't lose its leaves is supposed to signify eternal life.

Yeah, my entire family seems overly mellow about Christmas this year. With what's going on in my family, it's just been on the backburner of our list of concerns. Luckily, we'll be home after all, though.
