Body Worlds was really great, but I'll probably not feel comfortable eating any kind of jerkey ever again. Actually, I probably will. I didn't have an easy time accepting that the specimens were actually human, even the ones with skin didn't look very real. I was also very discontent with the blatant sexism of the exhibit. The website explains that male specimens provide a better view of muscle structure, because most men have more defined muscles than most women. That doesn't explain, however, why a seemingly progressive exhibit would place the specimens in such annoyingly gender stereotyped roles. Women used were positioned as things like a ballerina, a yoga practitioner, and an "angel." The only one that really made sense was the woman who was 5 months pregnant because, well, men can't get pregnant. Men were positioned as a baseball player, soccer player, a gymnast, and a skiier.... Come on, this is the 21st century and ahtletics aren't confined to the male gender anymore (not to mention that there are such things as male dancers). We (Caitlin and I) left a frustrated message in the comment book at the end of the exhibit. Don't get me wrong though, I did find Body Worlds to be very interesting, and the trip as a hole was very fun. We stopped in Santa Monica on the way there because we were really early and at the Ruby's on the pier in Newport Beach on the way home (because we were hungry).

Yesterday my mom and I went shopping. It wasn't quite a "spree" but it was fun and I have new pants and shirts. I still need shoes to go with them (the pants), but they are great.

Pretty much the only stores (besides the grocery type) open today were Border's and Old Navy. So I say, let's all boycott Westfield malls for their clearly Anti-Semitic practices! I know for a fact that they wouldn't dare close all the malls on Passover when all the Christians will want to be out shopping! GOSH!

I discovered that it's 48 degrees farenheit in Paris today. I'm going to die.

Today I did a test pack for my trip and everything I need to take fits in my favorite blue and red and yellow checked suitcase that I'm madly in love with and there's room to spare. I'm so pleased.

Yesterday I was told that I have the mannerisms of a librarian by a man in my tai chi class. It hurt me. First he asked if I was a librarian. When I said no, he asked if I was training to be a librarian. When I said no to that, he asked me if I came from a family of librarians. I started to say no before I realized that I do, in fact, come from a family of librarians. Both of my grandmothers worked as librarians for a time, and my mother briefly worked as a librarian. I suppose I wouldn't terribly mind being a librarian. Even so, I don't like being identified as the librarian type.

Uh, I think that's it.
