Shocking pink...

I still can't believe Rafa lost today. I thought I wasn't going to dwell on it too much but it seems I can't help myself now. Credit to Soderling who played some excellent shots and never cracked when people expected him to, but Rafa was not at the races at all today. Just hitting it far too short too often. Such a surprise after the way he ( Read more... )

Oh I love Oldboy. Park Chan-Wook is on my list of fave directors (it's a long list though!) I recommend 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance' and I'm desperate to see 'I'm a Cyborg, but That's OK.'
Korean cinema is very inventive at the moment, though for me Hong Kong is where it's really at. Wong Kar Wai is literally my God and Danny and Oxide Pang are better then any of the other brother director combinations. Yes that includes the Coens.

Thanks, I'll add those to my LoveFilm list. They just sent me the Oldboy Extras DVD, which was very interesting indeed, I do like all those little details. Park seemed very embarrassed about adding commentary to the deleted scenes, made me chuckle. There were also some very interesting technical details about colour bleaching and different lenses that heightened my appreciation of the film even further.

I do like Asian films as I do a lot of writing and research into anime at work, so I have a lot added o my list, but the list is long so I'm sure they'll all arrive eventually. I'd rank Oldboy as one of my favourites, along with Takashi Miike's Audition, which was also sensational.

I haven't seen the extras, it does sound interesting.
I was a bit disappointed by Audition tbh, I think I'd heard to much hype and seen too many trailers. I like it but it's way down my list of top Asian films. Actually it's my least favourite Miike film! Gozu is a masterclass of the bizarre, involving a constantly lactating woman supplying a entire villages milk, a bull headed man in y-fronts and the most disturbing sex scene ever imaginable. Happiness of The Katakuris made serial killing musicals cool way before Johnny Depp and of course Ichi The Killer is a classic of extreme asia. Put them on your LF list immediately! (Make sure you don't have the Jenna Jameson starring Zombie Strippers on there, I just made that mistake...)

Naff, have you got Ichi the Killer? I've been meaning to watch that for ages...

You're alive!!! :) Sorry to hear about the sporting disappointments. The Cavs just dropped to the Magic, so I'm not sure who I'm going to cheer for in the finals as I can't stand the Lakers.

I'm also jealous on the S14 DVDs...we finally got S10 released, though I haven't gotten it yet as it's still quite expensive.

Speaking of Family Guy, do you ever watch BONES? Stewie made a guest appearance on there that was just hilarous.

Hope all's well - I'll be in Europe for the next few weeks, but sadly, not anywhere near England :(

I saw a good bit of the Magic/Cavs series (including Game 4 live last Tuesday as I didn't have to work in the morning) and I was impressed by Orlando's team shooting on the whole, but I had this feeling that LeBron would still be able to carry the Cavs over them in the long run. I was hoping Denver would beat the Lakers but it seems they ran out of steam, which is a shame.

Hmm, well, the 14 set is nice for some of the deleted scenes but the credit crunch has seriously hit the R2 release as the three discs (and I hate that we have to put up with the stupid double-sided discs in Europe) are packed inside one normal DVD box with no more sweet lil' bits of copy for each ep. Bah.

I would love to see Bones but sadly it's on Sky. Stewie is my favourite, I love him so.

Travelling again? I hope you have a great time. :)

BTW I sent you an email a while back to your AOL account, did it reach you?

I haven't checked the AOL account in awhile, so I'll have to check.

Ah, the joy of double-sided discs. We have them here for some things; I believe ER seasons 1-2 were double-sided, and I know that other shows are as well. ER has got to be the worst show in terms of bonus features when it comes to DVDs.

I'll be sure to enjoy the trip!

Ah, OK, it was a while back now...

Right, so it's not just an R2 thing, then. Doesn't make it any less annoying. Well, there is a 300th episode feature on the S14 discs that I'm yet to watch, but still, they are always pretty empty in relation to other programmes.

Great...whereabouts are you going?
