Is it weird that I feel so betrayed to discover that the office is such a conservative show? Every time I think about the end of last night's episode I gag/feel really sad. Apparently once you have your man, women aren't supposed to have any other dreams.

frances...i love you dearly, but i'm going to have disagree with you here. pam chose not to stay at art school. Jim supported her staying, but she was unhappy and wanted to move back to Scranton. If she LOVED art school and wanted to be in NY instead, that would be different. Give Pam, and all women who choose to be where their men are, a break. It doesn't mean we don't have dreams, it just means that we want to be with someone who makes us happy.

I just feel like it didn't fit with the other episodes or her character development in general. I mean, everything else we've seen has been Pam having an awesome time in New York, and then all of a sudden she's failing? And what's in Scranton for Jim - a shitty job at a shitty paper company? He should have moved there, where there were way more opportunities for both of them. It just didn't feel real.

Fair enough. I did think Jim was going to move to NY, which would have been pretty cool. I guess we'll just have to see how it all plays out.
