welcome, we love new volunteers in girl scouting! i'm not sure i've got any specific advice about being a brownie leader, as i've never been one...but as a field director, i'll say make sure you attend every service unit meeting! if you can't be there, find a parent from your troop who can attend and take notes. su meetings are where you will find out about service unit, association, and council-wide events available to your girls. they're also your chance to share ideas with other leaders in your area and find out what worked/didn't work for them. and, of course, be flexible and involve your girls in the planning of events/try-its they take part in. they may be young, but as a parent you already know they've developed specific interests. by letting your girls be part of the planning process, you'll help your troop remain strong for years.

First of all - Congratulations!

Being a Service Unit Manager I have to concur with lizzy81 - make sure you attend your SU meetings. There are so many resources available to you through your SU - you just have to ask.

Oh and I am jealous because I have to harrass my new leaders to get their training done - and here you are fully trained! Nice job!

My best advice - always make sure you have a back-up plan. I've had speakers cancel on me at the last minute and I've also found that something I thought would take an entire meeting was done is 20 minutes so always having something up your sleeve is a good idea.

Best of luck!
