If there is anything Girl Scouts has taught me it's that sometimes you just need to tell people exactly what you think of them. Until you do they'll just walk all over you. As president of my senior troop I was considered in charge, the "leaders" were the advisors, but that never stopped parents from going to the leaders with stuff and blowing me off when I interjected. I actually told more than one girls parents off before they were willing to respect authority.

Take a stand. Being "too damned nice" isn't acceptable when dealing with (often) psychotic moms.

We're not allowed to return cookies that someone didn't want. It is our responsibility to sell them after that. So ... no returns and you won't have loose boxes around. People should call you as a courtesy as to when to pick up cookies. They also need to sign out the cookies that they are taking. They are their responsibility.

Good luck with it all.

people should always call before they come. If you are the Cookie manager/mom for a troop - you can declare that there be no calls or pickups before or after blank hours. Remember that you are a volunteer too!
