This Friday 7 AM at Diesel: Write, Write, Write

We have another writing date at 7 AM this Friday (and basically every Friday that isn't a holiday weekend, even though this one is, kind of). Bring paper and pen or a charged laptop. I'll be there from 7-9:30, so drop in anytime. You are also free to have breakfast and schmooze, but we want to reserve at least one hour (maybe more!) to write. The ( Read more... )

I'm going to try to make one of these at some point. Are you still doing the Amazon slam? I'm not much of a slam poet, but I'd be interested in talking with you about possibly planning a salon or reading. Is this something you're open to right now? I'm way out of the loop when it comes to Boston and poetry, and I'd like to rectify that.

Yes for the writing date. Basically every Friday that is *not* part of a holiday weekend (and some that are) we meet at 7 AM (or at least before 7:30) at Diesel, have breakfast and write for an hour, sometimes sharing what we've written, then usually pack everything up by 9. We sit in the back booths either by the left wall or across from the bathrooms, depending on how loud the music is coming through the speakers.

I no longer host The Amazon Slam though I do occasionally put on shows (called GirlsnQueers First) that are revues of performers I've seen around town (including the Amazon Slam) and liked. The only queer open mike that remains in town (as far as I know) is Gender Crash. The host is gendercrash. If you are looking for more of a (queer-friendly) writing workshop toniamato might be able to help you out.

Hey, Ren. I've heard of gendercrash but never made it over there. It's in JP isn't it? I'll check out toniamato.

The writing date can be difficult for me because of my work schedule. I tend to have my own writing routine at almost the same time. I'm looking to meet other writers of like minds, though, so I'll try to make it.

Thanks for hosting it. I know you've been on the scene for a while and appreciate that.

There is no writing date today, but will be one next Friday. Sorry for any inconvenience.
