An Apology to Dollhouse

Apr 11, 2009 20:39

Anyone who has seen my journal or has read my comments in here will know that I've been disappointed with DOLLHOUSE. I have never hated it, and have enjoyed the episodes in general, however after the initial elation of a new show from the god that is Joss, I found the episodes to be repetitve and unfulfiling ( Read more... )

I agree with you 100% hun!! I wasnt all a big fan of the show previous episodes to this one. But I kept dutifully watching, knowing that Joss would eventually come to form and amaze us and he has!! I am so excited for the next episode its unbelievable - considering I've been meh about actually watching previous eps.

Also agree about Carolines background - animal activist?!? Can you scream what is Joss thinking?

Fox can go take a hike for all I care. They depend and focus waay to much on their reality shows. Soon as American Idol stops you'll notice their ratings dropping rapidly. The only saving shows on Fox is Dollhouse and Bones in my opinion. Fingers crossed they come to their senses or Joss can find a way to carry on Dollhouse either by another network (Just like he was able to do with Buffy) or the internet (Of course the amazing Dr. Horrible)

I had to write and share equal thoughts with you hun!! I read your journal like you wouldnt believe, and yeah kick me now for me never really replying until now =]

SQUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

I'm so glad that you hang around these parts :-) I feel like I've lost touch with so many of the old myspace family since making the move. I still check in now and then to my profiles over there... when I remember the passwords lol!

Gah!! American Idol!! I hate that dramas have to compete with reality tv :-(
If Eliza is contracted with Fox, then I guess that Dollhouse won't be able to move unless she is released... sucks.

LMAO! very true... well with no episode, this week they can't frak it up lol, but unfortunately next week it looks like a 'engagement of the week' type thing... grrr...

I totally agree with this. The Adelle/Victor reveal was incredible and totally unexpected, as was Echo's offer to 'help' by being imprinted.

But, as you said, what really blew my mind was the Mellie reveal. Both Tahmoh and Miracle gave breathtaking performances, though I do think I would've liked it more if they had on less clothing:) I can't wait to see how things develop now that Paul has both gained and lost something very valuable: He's gained another way of getting information about the Dollhouse but he's lost the one 'real person' he had in his life.

Unfortunately, the preview for next week looks like another Echo-centric adventure but I'm hoping we may have an Alpha element to that adventure, which would definately make it more interesting:)

I know! When I saw the trailer for next week I was like WTF! we're going back to engagement of the week? yuck! Hopefully, they will spin it in such a way that we get some Alpha action :-) I can't wait to see Alan!

I have to agree with you about Caroline's story. After watching the show, I sat back and thought hmmm that's it? Usually back stories are supposed to make you care. I did feel for her however, when her boyfriend died. But even that was a bit far fetched. Since when do security guards carry loaded guns. In most cases it's a flash light and a taser lol.

As far as this season goes, I think the first season is always the toughest, and not necessarily the best one. Remember Buffy season 1? While I loved the show, looking back, it was by far the worst season. There was a robot demon named Malcolm lol.

Well, my theory is that while Dominic was a spy - Boyd is involved too. I think it's been made clear that he does not believe in the ethics of the Dollhouse and certainly cares for Echo a great deal more than just on a handler capacity. He's the one handler we see not just taking it as a job, and sees the Actives as people who he genuinely wants to protect ( ... )

loving the bullet points in this answer -dies-

There's definitely something to this, though all I want Boyd to do in my version of the show is sweep Echo into his manly, yummy arms and walk off into the sunset lol!!
