My initial (honest) reaction to finishing Breaking Dawn last night

Ok, now that I've slept on it, this book--it's so bad it's almost ineffable.

Like we were promised no new characters, so fans could relish in the plot surrounding the characters they love. Instead, what we got were like 80 new vampire characters, none of whom were developed enough for us to care about them in any real sense. So while Garrett is ( Read more... )

I feel the exact same way. I loved Edward, and except for sexing her up and planning with Carlisle, we get nothing from him like we have in the other books, well, except for offering Bella to Jake, but he's always kinda been the type to do anything to save her.

I was so pissed when Alice left.

I hate Nessie and the fact Bella is only a sometimes parent and Nessie is the perfect child and she never really has to take care of her.

I hated Bella had no problems as a newborn. That was stupid.

Lastly, I hated the very purple prose. The first seven chapters was emo or marveling at Edward's beauty. Book III contained 200 pages of Bella marveling at how amazing she and Nessie are. It's just blah.

For the first time I pitied Jacob and actually liked him. He got screwed and Bella jerked him around for months even though she said she didn't want him.

It was so much worse than I thought it would be.

Man, my expectations were low enough that I was satisfied with it. Seriously, better than New Moon, at least.

Though I am really pissed that the Leah storyline wasn't resolved after it was built up so much
