Tonight is the midnight opening of Breaking Dawn 2. I have exactly zero desire to see this movie. Well, perhaps slightly more than zero, because a friend I met in fandom (who will undoubtedly happily get drunk with me beforehand and laugh at the ridiculousness) said she'd like to go. So maybe we'll go. But we probably won't, because she's not the

I'm not trying to change your mind. I think your opinion is totally valid. I totally let the Potter fandom ruin the last book/movie for me, and I really wish I hadn't. It's sad that there's always that group that has to ruin something for everyone else. And I'm convinced there's no perfect fandom and it will always happen, but it's still disappointing to think on.
There are a couple lovely moments with Carlisle in the film. I hope if you see it you enjoy it.

Many days I find myself thinking, "Man, out of all the things I could've nerded out over through the years, I had to wind up here..."That really upset me. So, I want to make sure you know: your strong convictions and what you wrote for this fandom inspired a lot of people, including me. And nerdy as some of it was, it was also passionate, incredibly candid, and dare I say - on more than one occasion - profound. You've helped some of us in this fandom to be better writers and gain more confidence ( ... )

Hey, if you hated movie Carlisle, you should at least watch the bit where Aro rips his head off. Marcus gets a nice death scene too, he's all 'Finally!'. And Jacob asks Edward if he gets to call him Dad, and Edward is all 'no' ha ha.
Over the end credits, they do a massive roll call of just about everyone who ever had a line in any of the movies, intercut with pages from the books, and it was such a nice tribute to the literary source material ... I wish they'd done something similar for Harry Potter.

The six-seconds of "cut to everyone's horrified faces" had me laughing instead of crying over Carlisle. And I knew about both the twist and Carlisle about six months ago, so it didn't have the impact I think they were going for. :)
It was...thoroughly okay. Just okay, but thoroughly so. However, I am glad I did not see it in public.

I realized watching them that the BD2 soundtrack has been on in-store play for the last couple of months. At least I didn't notice it as clearly as I did when I saw THE ARTIST--I was going, "Where have I heard this? WHERE HAVE I HEARD THIS?"
With this, I just got to the end and went, "Oh, hey, this has been playing in my ears every other day for like five weeks."

And this, too:
"Man, if you *didn't* nerd out over Twi, I would've never met you, and that would've been a real shame."
(Though alas we have only met virtually.)
Please don't disappear completely. I would miss you very much.
