This is the first time I have heard this story! You guys are so adorable. ♥
I'm really picky about the jewellery that I wear, so I would probably want to pick out my ring, but I definitely want to be surprised by my proposal. I don't know how to reconcile those two things, haha. I suppose a private proposal would be better, though... just in case, you know. I wouldn't want to put someone on the spot like that in front of a crowd, and I wouldn't want it done to me either. :/ I am too complicated.
yeah that is such a hard thing to reconcile! you could show a bunch of rings that you like and then hopefully not know when he has bought it/when he plans to propose.
Adorable! I liked hearing it a second time, months later.
I still catch myself staring at the ring that I wear now, years after I got it. I don't even want to think about how much my own ring will someday distract me, haha.
I actually had another proposal dream last night (I blame you and your blog for this). It was a gorgeous ring and I was showing it to you guys, except I was wearing it on the wrong hand... I wonder if that means something bad. :P
I'm very torn over whether I'd like to pick out my own ring. I'm kind of terrified that I'll wind up with a ring that doesn't do it for me. I've had many dreams where that has happened. I always wake up and think "Thank God I'm not really engaged!" But on the other hand, it'll be way more impressive if he picks it out on his own. I guess I'll wait and see what he wants to do. If he wants me to pick it out, then I won't say no.
A - agreed. F bought me some really teeny diamond earrings a couple years ago and I was gutted. They were so small, I swear they would have gone right through the holes in my ears. I got him to take them back. I wouldn't want to have to do that with a ring. As long as it's big and sparkly and princess cut, I'll be fine with not having input. hahaha. God I'm materialistic... but it better be in private. I don't like people looking at me.
G - I remember our shopping in West Ed Mall....so exciting!!!
I remember that, A! You were at our place not long after and you were very sternly (and drunkenly) relating the story to James. Hopefully some of it stuck! Haha.
