haha! this is a historic moment for america. i'm so proud of our nation, not only for making the right decision, but for EMBRACING the right decision!
what's your number? i sometimes want to text you and i don't have it anymore
also, i had a question about voting (it's obviously over, but i'm curious). ok, so the polls close on tuesday night, right? well, for states that allow mail-in votes like us, how do they make sure all the votes get counted? because i was told that so long as the ballot is POST-MARKED by tuesday--and not necessarily DELIVERED by tuesday--it's still valid. but how does that work if our polls close tuesday night?
Yes! As long as your ballot is postmarked on Election day by the time the polls close they get counted. Elections will be called before the counting is done based on projections and taking the numbers into consideration. So say Candidate 1 had 100 votes, and Candidate 2 had 70 votes. There are 15 absentee or provisional ballots that haven't been counted yet, but even if Candidate 2 won all those votes he/she still wouldn't be able to win. It's sort of a crude way of describing the process, but does that make sense?
I'm sitting down to write you a letter tonight (finally, can you believe it?! I'm such a slacker!), and I'll include my cell number in there for ya. :)
so THAT'S what absentee ballots are! ok, so they account for all of those based on who is registered to vote. that's a pretty complex system, but i guess it's nice to know that day who wins
letter writing takes so long! i only get to do it to you because i know the letter won't be more than like 2 pages. but every time i try to write to jenni, it takes me weeks!
and finally, i'm thinking of taking a trip down to san francisco in early march. i can't remember where you lived in california, but if you were thinking of going down around that time, we should totally hang out!
