A somewhat topical post.

Haven't written much because there hasn't been much to say. This past weekend wasn't too terribly bad -- did some reading, and went out with some non-art history friends for sushi Sunday night (Tyson and Leigh, to be exact, thanks for the introduction, martinhesselius). Amusingly, the whole group consisted of larpers, and half the conversation over sashimi was ( Read more... )

Glad to hear that you got to hang with a good group of people. Tyson is definitely a class act and you'll enjoy knowing him.

And I totally agree with you about Adele. That young woman has an amazing voice and stage presence.

Dude, I don't know who the guy is that ripped her heart out, but I'm glad he did. That girl can saaaaang.

And on a side note, I think I may be getting pulled into the game up here. Waiting to see what develops.

No kidding, and now that you've made me think about it--since I know from a factoid that I saw this guy exists--can you imagine BEING the guy who ripped her heart out watching her on stage?

And I hope you have a blast. I hear the Seattle game is pretty rockin. I'm just severely losing my steam for it.

I think I've been away from the circus long enough that it is fresh for me again. Plus, I never got an opportunity to play a good Tremere because of Tycho, so I think there's an opportunity there.

Lifestyle gamer scratches his head, wondering what joy can be gained from associating with mere gaming-dilettantes.

You know, I'm kind of stunned that you thought I needed the definition linked, given that taking the piss out of things is pretty much my modus operandi.

At any rate, you're not a lifestyle gamer. You're just a guy that really likes gaming. You don't give blood to buy game books, and you don't refer to a collection of TOR paperbacks as your "library". Your life actually continues between game sessions, as opposed to being in some gray, existentially meaningless limbo.

In short, you've not arrested your life because of entertainment bullshit.

Trust me, I know these people. They survive on MacDonalds, Pall Malls, and blow their money on Rifts books.

Sometimes my not-American phraseology requires an explanation, you have to admit it isn't that common a term on this continent. I erred on the side of caution, mea culpa.

And don't take my lifestyle-gamer crown from me! Noooo! I'll go out and buy Rifts books right now! I'll do it!

Doug.

DEAR GOD NO. Not a single dime needs to be spent on a Rifts book, even used, ever again.
