/entry/ And I cry, finally with joy

LAST WEEK. WAS. HELL.

THIS WEEK? Finally some peace and quiet.

Sorry I don't wanna bother using the LJ-cut. Why do I need to hide one of the most stressful weeks I ever had?

Last week, I prepared myself for shit. English Olympics were supposed to happen on December 5, and since I'm the head-honcho, our adviser was pretty nice to me, shouting (not so nicely) that I should do a good job.

I didn't sleep last week. Much. Mostly it's because at Thursday and Friday, we had to do the questions (my vice pres and I had worked until night for the questions at my house), and plan what we're going to do at the stage( thank goodness my friendship is the president of the Arts group. Life is made more easy) and what prizes we're going to give to the winners, as well as the tokens of appreciation for the guest speaker.

Yay. We had no rest preparing for the opening program that time. We had also got to let our adviser check our works, and most of the years won't practice for the Speech Choir and Jazz Chants.

That was easy. Then came Saturday for the Rehearsal, and since I was the emcee, dear ma'am gave me a good scolding because I was shy.

Kay!

I can't speak in front of an audience, for crying out loud! I had near-fainting spells as I emcee'd, and ma'am was sorely disappointed.

Add to that, she was mad at the Juniors for not being good enough, and she was glad the Seniors gave another good performance (go seniors!).

Well, came afternoon, and I still haven't prepared some of the questions for the Quiz Bee and the Spelling Bee and we had to take care of the prizes. Using our good ol' pick-up, the officers and I took a trip to another town, and we had the time of our lives (actually I didn't since I wasn't at the back seat, goddammit). We bought lots of foods (chips, snacks, sweets and whatever) for the prizes, and we nearly got into a shooting accident but it was all good. The only bummer was we didn't get to come by the old grilling place since it only opens at 3PM and we went there at 2:30. It also took quite a long ride to go to that town, and my mom's money was kinda  wasted... but well...

We managed then to buy tokens for the guest speaker and judge so everything was all good.

Then we had to decorate the stage. Luckily, a senior (I'll call him Tops) came and helped us with the stage. True, we only had the curtains put up and a little yellow there, but it took us until about 6 before we settled that. I have more backstory about his kindness probably in my next entry, since his story is kinda dark and we kinda questioned his kindness, being the only guy to help us out.  Then Sunday also was a busy day where he had to add more stage decor. I didn't sleep much, since I had to type and edit and xerox some stuff for the contests such as the Readathon and Spelling Bee. We had to go home at 7PM and I kinda got scolded by my parents since mom was at the city and only dad was left at the house, but he understood right away what I was doing so things got settled.

I worked until 11 to settle everything. I woke up at 4:30 AM. I was supposed to go at my vice-pres' house at 5AM. The program begins at 7:30AM. Yes, I was screwed. I had a brief shower, dressed up right away and woke up my banged-up father to drive me to my friend's house which, BTW is near the school. I didn't get to eat breakfast.

So we went at school by 5:45. We had to take care of the chairs (my adviser said all students should have seats), put up the sound system, the flags for the National Anthem, the LCD, the screen for the projector and so forth. I still didn't know the script for the opening program.

Then 7AM came and went, and we still weren't ready. It was a good thing though that most of my friends were helping me out. I salute my best friend and my other friends for helping us even if they aren't officers. By 7:30 we were ready. Thank goodness though, that despite our guest speaker being late, things went without much hitches (thank you, my compadre in Emcee-ing). Then came the other contests, and dear gawd, everyone was amazing, especially the Junior years who we almost thought to have won the Jazz Chants and the Speech Choir with their sudden improvement. Our principal was definitely impressed at everyone, and ma'am was gracious enough to give standing ovations.

Most of the time, I was out running because everything almost seemed to crash down and I was there to help pull everything up again. Thank God I had my friends to pull with me. I was often called by ma'am in case, and the committee and my friends were often there to obey me if I give some orders. We almost had a serious break-down when there was no screen, but the Auditor and Peace Officer were smart enough to get it on time. The Spelling Bee was almost the real shit, since we had 40 contestants and we had to watch them all. Ma'am was nice enough to let us do an elimination challenge. sigh, thank goodness it was ok. My sandals wore down because of my running, lol.

Finally at the awarding, it was nice that everyone was all smiles as we handed the awards. Ma'am was happy at the things we showed, and it was a relief that everything was over. The seniors won overall, yay!

So... that time I didn't eat breakfast or lunch and not much dinner, but I was happy that everything worked out. My knees finally gave out when I returned at nearly 8PM back at home. It was the best experience ever.

I was still very happy that everything went smoothly. My stressful week is finally replaced by a peaceful one. Next week we'll have no classes. Then the week after will be our Christmas Party. Yes.

Oh. I forgot that I wasn't happy about two things. One, I didn't get to deliver a thank you speech. Two... I didn't get to eat a jelly-ace that we left in the prize bin for ourselves! ;A;

And yeah, I had no internet for about a week. I miss life, orz.

like stories, club, school, personal, friends are forever!, silly worries, life, english camp
