YES! I always try to explain that to people, but I just get weird looks. I saw them when they were touring for (), and it was the closest thing to a religious experience I've ever had.
Henry of course was like, "Yeah, it was alright." WTF???

It's seeing them live. Sure, their albums are beautifully astounding, but live...it's something else. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

I quite liked them a few years back, but when song after song basically seemed to be some guy interminably wailing "eeeeeeeewaaahhhhwaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh", I just kind of lost interest.

As said above, seeing them live changes everything. It's truly quite extraordinary, and I'm from a similar music background to you - raw, not fancypants mood music. It's a shame it's so expensive to see them, otherwise I'd hope to change your mind on it.
