Stuff Ya Face

I think, in life, sometimes, there is nothing better than a well made soup or sandwich.

The sassbombamazoniangoddess classytart kinda dared me to post each day of this week as a purity test for my LJ rehab, so even though I'm tired and my brain is mushed potato, there is nothing so simple and rewarding-for-all than a question or two. Which are; 1. If there ( Read more... )

I am, it seems, capable of becoming sick of just about anything. Even peanut butter, which is shocking. (I believe I have told you my various stories of the early childhood and strong feelings about food. There is a rather dramatic incident my mother likes to recount about my five-year-old devastation resulting from the lack of peanut butter and jelly sandwich ( ... )

That sandwich Laura's evil ex-girlfriend made sounds shockingly similar to sandwiches I've had in Melbourne. Grilled vegetables on foccacia or ciabata bread are so, so good, especially with goat cheese or some other soft cheese. Mmm, now thinking about paninis, and am in your sandwich reverie.

I still need to make you French Onion soup - it's one of my favourites too. I think I keep putting it off because it requires *assemblage*, which is something that may not be possible when you need/want it.

P.S. Stop apologising for your dictation robot - it's perfectly legible honey.

if you ever find similar sandwiches in Chicago, I would be very interested to hear, dairy avoidance be damned. I know there are some good vegetarian sandwiches out there-my mother brought me a fantastic one from some place in Lincoln Park. She had no idea where. Back in the day, when I worked in a brewery in the suburbs, we had a vegetarian sandwich that was really good too. Places out of business now though.

And yes, the assembly of French onion soup means that it should be a treat rather than something in my fridge.

First of all, who in hell calls a burger a sandwich? Not THIS American. A burger is a burger. A sandwich is a sandwich.

ANYWAY, I like that classytart dared you into this :-D. Good for you for going with it despite mushbrain and tiredness ( ... )

1. Cheese, check. Olives - CHECK.

2. Can I join you on death row? No shit, seriously? I'd kill a bitch just to be on death row with you and share in this bounty of face-stuffing joy.

<----sucked for lobster bisque

Your sandwiches are also calling my name - salami, avocado, and the simple classic, BLT = yum! My favourite *bagel* (notice how specific my answers here are) is smoked salmon, cream cheese, and capers. It. Is. DIVINE.

(I'm giving myself ulcers reading these responses...)

Hee! Death row FEAST!!!

I looooooooooove a BLT. And turkey club sammiches make my heart happy.

I haven't had a decent bagel in two and a half years. It is to die.

Yeah, bagels are hard to replicate. But BLTs certainly are not :)

So when we come visit, are you taking us here? And I don't need more reasons to move to Oregon, but please, keep them coming xxx

Everyday - pizza. Last meal - El Jorge from Ninfa's (cheese enchilada, flautas, rice and refried beans.)

Favorite sandwich - roast beef on French roll, or chicken salad on croissant with Irish potato soup. Mmmmmm.

Favourite pizza? I (obviously) love meat, but oddly enough, my favourite pizzas are mostly vegetarian.

"chicken salad on croissant with Irish potato soup." - lot of chicken salads here, it's quite obviously the best invention, ever (esp. with red grapes).

Butting in to comment on pizza, which I haven't had in so long that it didn't even factor in to my answer, which is TRAGIC.

Anyway. Favorite pizza of all time: 'white' pizza with extra ricotta, sauteed onions, spinach, slices of tomato and lots of garlic. OMG.

You *can* make this pizza, Deb. It wouldn't be super easy, but neither super hard. Jamie Oliver has many simple pizza dough recipes online. Am certain you could replicate this at home.

One food, every day, for the rest of my life? Raw clams. Mmmmm.

Last meal question? Definitely nyotaimori (sushi served on a naked woman). And she really has to be voluptuous, naked, and not covered in those stupid leaves that show no skin! This is my last mean, dagnabit, and I have no time to be politically correct or sensitive.

Favorite soups? New England clam chowder, Manhattan clam chowder, lobster bisque, crab bisque, and gazpacho.

Favorite sammiches? (1) Tuna salad and American cheese, with lettuce, tomato and raw onion on a whole wheat wrap. (2) Ham, salami, bologna and swiss cheese with lettuce, tomato and raw onion, mayo and horseradish mustard, on fresh, warm rye bread.

Raw clams? You'd do well on a desert island Noah, especially if there are Native Ladies about :)

Sushi is definitely the food I could eat every day for the rest of my life and never get sick of - Japanese food in general is my siren song. And yeah, nail on the head with the soups - I'm a chowwwwda girl now I'm in America, and seafood + chowder is the way to my heart (attack). I knew you had pretty good culinary taste, Sir, I just knew it.

Oh shit! How could I forget clam chowder! I keep meaning to go to the USA Food Store to pick some up.

Oh you know why I omitted it? Because chowder =\= soup.

Muahahahahah....
