Don't ever read the online comments, people, it's an insidious poison. Sending love and best wishes, Japan.

There are some great exceptions. When it was announced GW's memoirs were being published, the yahoo comments were drop dead hilarious. the gawker peanut gallery is often funny. But otherwise it's rare...

If it's amusing, sure, or mocking a singular person for being a fucking buffoon, yes. But the sheer fucking mass of racist/homophobic/hateful/ignorant/etc garbage out there is utterly overwhelming, and extremely disheartening. Just...so depressing. And it seems to be getting worse and worse.

I swear that if these people did not have the option of online anonymity, they would not even exist at all.

Not true. They exist, they just say it in front of their own kind and people they think will be sympathetic, and shut up in front of black people/Jews/gays or whoever they're talking about.

Hell, I'm multiracial and even my white mother was the most racist piece of shit you'd ever meet. I had to endure hearing about Jews control all the money in the world and how Hitler did the right thing for the last five or so years I lived with her. I think she hated every ethnic group except Anglos, French, and Germans...

I meant, online. They would not exist online - ie: they wouldn't "voice their opinion" online, because they'd have to be accountable for it. What these fucktards do and say in their own backyards amongst their own kind is perfectly fine by me, even though I'd still wish them a thousand fiery deaths for being such ugly human beings. But when they contaminate online forums, spreading vitriol and lies, hatefulness and garbage (eg: on a news report about the bashing death of a gay high school student), that's when it becomes utterly fucking unbearable.

don't look now, but your posting regularly.

And yes, online comments tend to be painful. I am completely amazed at references to Pearl Harbor. WTF.
