Leaping from author to author!

I'm running dangerously low on Tove Jansson books in English. There are a few more Moomin books I haven't read - early-ish ones mostly I think - and then I'll be out. Others have been released in English but not for some years; completely out of print. The library had a copy of Sculptor's Daughter but doesn't seem to have any of the other old ones ( Read more... )

You could always learn Swedish.

Could you please stop me from taking any more books home. Soon I won't be able to get through the door.

I keep trying to get you to enable me on that front. Your son is putting in more effort than you are.

No, I can't. Short of physically restraining you I do not believe this is possible.

Go for it. Then I can be comically inept at you. :D

I'm doing that to half my books too in fairness. OOPS. And yet I always end up putting more and more stuff on my want to read list.

Hmmm. Which Tove Jansson books do you have? Alternatively, which ones have you read / which are your favorites? I might see if the local bookshop would happen to have something in English... (don't hold your breath, it's a slim chance but strange things sometimes happen)

I have... The Summer Book, Tales from Moominvalley, The Exploits of Moominpappa, Moominsummer Madness, Moominland Midwinter, Moominpappa at Sea and Moominvalley in November. And A Winter Book, i.e. bits of Scupltor's Daughter and other stories from completely random places. The ones I've read but don't own are Sculptor's Daughter and Fair Play, the latter of which I would love to own, but that one IS in stock on amazon UK I believe so I can get hold of it when I'm not feeling poor *edits* I have friends who like to buy gifts so apparently that one's on my way and I'm not allowed to buy it or let anyone else buy it on my behalf. XD Anything else which isn't moomins basically can't be found here right now (her children's books, I presume, sell a lot better than her others). It's absolutely lovely of you to offer, anyway. ♥

Ooookay, list (including edit) duly noted! Will be keeping my eyes open whenever I happen to be in the same place with books in English...

Italo Calvino! I've always loved The Path to the Nest of Spiders and Marcovaldo. Which once have you read?

Just Invisible Cities, actually, but I fell madly in love with it so I'm definitely going to have to hunt out more. *__*
