A messed up dream, machiavellian politics, and the state of decency

I've been silent and overworked for far too long, it's time for a rant. However, before I tear into a few subjects, I'll start with the dream I had last night

You and I have very different ideas about the reasons for the war in Iraq, but we're in agreement on the end results. We made the mess, we have to help clean it up. However, the government will pull out because the American public is selfish and irresponsible. (Okay, that's overstating your last point, and possibly twisting it a tad. Sorry.)

As a history major, wars bother me. If governments would open a book and go "Look! Look what happened before when X did this to Y in year Z! Why are we different?" and make a pro and con list, and then act, things would be a lot more peaceful around here. Although I think peace is an impossible dream. That's another whole debate though.

As for decency, that guy at Newman was a complete jerk. I was really upset about that joke for the rest of the night. I have no idea who he was either, but that joke was completely inappropriate.
