Western Mass is great. I lived in Pittsfield for a summer, learned how to sail there and dug on the Appalachain Trail and Mt. Greylock.

But yes, all that you say is true. It's a crazy maze of wandering farm roads leading hither and yon. Beautiful, but not for the feignt of gas tank.
