So, two weekends ago, Jono had tried to make Karla pancakes when she was very small. A visitor? Really, Jono had hardly noticed. Honest. Except for how he did, looking out his window at the crazy person pounding on the door down on street level.

"A visitor, really? And to what do I owe the pleasure?"

He'd come down and open the door in a moment. Right now he was just kind of boggling. Boggling and pulling on a shirt. Lounging around the apartment in nothing but a loose pair of sweats had kind of become comfortable habit, once Troy had left.

"Well, for one thing, I came to get my kitty back," Karla hollered up to him. "What, you think you could keep her forever?"

"She's very comfortable in the guest room," Jonothon replied, shooting her a grin. "I didn't think it was proper to share a room with a lady so soon after meeting her for the first time."

But the kitty and Joni seemed to get along well. Jono had to rescue her a few times from being dragged around the apartment by one ear.

Hey! That kitty was old and venerable and deserved her rest! She'd clearly been loved very hard in the many years that Karla had had her.

"That right you treat her with respect!" Karla shouted, before letting herself into his door. Who needed a key when they could pass through wood? A minute or so later, Karla was letting herself into his apartment. "Guess what!" she announced brightly. "We have plans today!"
