Karla feels someone's approach - and more pointedly, their jewelry - and wheels around, pulling the stick back just in time to avoid skewering her watcher. The door was open, but Karla's never been one for logic, especially when she's annoyed.

Salome flinches away as the stick comes near, but regains her royal bearing quickly. She arches an eyebrow, as if annoyed that any action of hers might be questioned. "When the door is left ajar?"

Karla snarls at her last comment. She doesn't like the arrogance in the other's voice, or what she sees as arrogance, and draws herself up to her full height, adopting her most regal bearing to challenge even Salome's. "Even when the door is left ajar," she says firmly. "I was busy, as you can see." She twitches the stick in Salome's direction, gesturing seemingly wildly and bringing the sharp blade whistling within a few inches of her nose. Her feral smile has a small edge to it. "But it's no good concentrating when I'm annoyed, anyway. Pity. I needed something to wear off my temper." Karla's never been good at maintaining a regal bearing, obviously.
