Had a great weekend. The weather was perfect, we are finally getting some real fall weather. Such a break has been long in coming, from such a blistering hot summer. When to a party Saturday with Matt and some other friends, had a blast and did not drink to much.

And finally, I broke my artist block. I suppose thats what I should call it. Since ( Read more... )

Turpenoid will leave an oily residue. It would be perfectly fine to paint over it with oils, but I'd stay away from acrylic.

Tracing your own work is definitely not cheating. It's not like you used a slide projector, or anything. Even that's not cheating, as long as you admit it.

I'll keep that in mind, for this piece its to late. So far the acrylic dried fine, no sign of problems. This also was just trying a different technique. Have you heard anything about using alchohol?

I'm not to fond of the whole tracing thing. But, I was kinda lost. I know it was only a few days, but something had me blocked. It was wierd. Just glad, it seems behind me now.

Hey. Sorry I haven't critiqued your other work yet. Life, you know. I just started reading your journal and had to comment on this. I don't have first hand experience stripping acrylic like you're thinking. But Leon Golub has.

Procuniar: What solvent do you use to break down the acrylic?

Golub: Rubbing alcohol.

Procuniar: How much do you use?

Golub: I soak an area of perhaps 2 ft. by 2 ft., and as it dissolves I scrape the paint surfaces which then begin to reveal the earlier layers.

Hope that helps. If you've seen his work, you know what kind of result he gets.

hello new friend! i added you since you were nice enough to comment on my Bo experience. :) unfortunately my journal doesn't get much more exciting or mature than that most times (haha) & i have absolutely zero artistic advice for you on this post. [wow, way to make myself sound AWESOME!]

anyway, congrats on breaking the block & i'll keep an eye out for your work. :)

Its allways nice to make a new friend, I added you too.
I enjoy your post, and read them often. I do apologize for not commenting, and I hope that you will not find that rude of me.
No need for a whole lot of artistic advice, knowing that your "keeping an eye out" for my work is a delight in itself.
Look forward to your new post, basically getting to know you.
