such a heartbreaking scene to follow the joy of the reunion

such a good woman - devastated, still trying to protect the kids, too little too late in terms of the shaking hands and the dollar trying to stop the avalanche falling around her

thank you

Ellen

Beautifully written. I have so much sympathy for Alma. Imagine you are sitting at home with 2 kids and your husband is cheating on you - with another man: As you described it this must have been her world exploding...

Thanks so much
Maria

I am curious about the expression "hot pants teenagers" that you used. I immediately thought of the very short shorts called hot pants that were in fashion for teenage girls in the early seventies. Was that what you were thinking of or did you mean pants as in panting? Or as in pants on fire? 1967 would have been too early for the shorts.

What I always tune in on, the next morning in the film, is when Alma watches out of the window as Ennis leaves and jerks her arm up in a half-wave and gasps out either "good bye" or "come back". I havent decided which it is. That is the moment in which I feel most sorry for her.
