Jack said when he left Lureen he rode the train as far as his money would take him then thumbed it for a stretch.  Caught a ride with a live wire name a Randee, co-ed from A & M, off to see the world before startin her last year as an Aggie.  Said Randee made him welcome in every way known to her from the time she rolled down the window and told ( Read more... )

they all knew, and now he did too.
I'm glad Ennis isn't in denial anymore,
he knew without hope of reprieve that he was one of those guys.
but it is sad that he has his inevitable shame and guilt, being, after all, our beloved, messed-up Ennis.

The peace that Ennis had missed more than the sex enfolded him with Jack’s embrace
Awww. So sweet. I love this.

Who is Randee?? george66 October 29 2007, 17:15:17 UTC
The peace that Ennis had missed more than the sex enfolded him with Jack’s embrace and he knew without hope of reprieve that he was one of those guys.  His father, his brother, Joe Aguirre, that harlot in the bar, hell, even strangers on the street, they all knew, and now he did too.

That was wonderful. Its seems that Ennis is finally allowing himself to ignore the thoughts and opinions of others...and hopefully even himself...and allow himself the simple joy at having his man back.

However...

I can't help but wonder who this "Randee" person is. Is "Randee" simply a female co-ed that Jack met up with who he apparently had sex with, which in itself makes one wonder why would Jack have sex with someone while he's racing towards Ennis. But I guess that would be okay - if "Randee" is a female - our boys does seem to have an understanding in that regard. But why do I have is sinking feeling that "Randee" is more then what Jack is willing to tell Ennis. Troubles ahead?

As you have surmised, "Randee" is of some significance. The name is my nod to Jack's admission of slankin' 'round with a "rancher's wife" in the Original Story. Of course, we know that "Randee" is short for Randall.

Oh God! Trouble!! And here I was hoping you was going to come on and tell me I was asking for problems in where there wouldn't be one. Let's pray that "Randee" stay far, far, far away.

Well there is nothing stopping me from praying and wishing - right?

Afterall I could be mistaken at what happen between Jack and this "Randee" person. Right? RIGHT?

(I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry)

All I know is that I'm loving the story!
