This is so very well-written. The metaphors speak clearly. The fireflies really do embody Jack. Jack certainly does light up Ennis' darkness. You describe Ennis' self-imposed misery and conflict perfectly. This drabble has a hollow feeling, and I just hear the wind moaning through it.
