The Bolly Horror Picture Show! (Tempe, AZ)
A tongue-in-cheek education about Bollywood movies! Live performances by Boom Boom Bollywood! Indian food! Costume contest!
So, what are you doing on Cinco De Mayo?
…or as we like to call it, Cinco Namaste!
Before hitting the bars, why not join Boom Boom Bollywood at the Mystic Jewell studio (524 West Broadway in Tempe, AZ - 85282) for an evening of performances plus an education in Bollywood? May 5th, we will be presenting The Bolly Horror Picture Show, our little way of communicating to the Western audience what it is we do with our Hindi movie tributes. As you may or may not know, there is an American tradition of live performers acting out the movie and doing the dances and songs of the movie musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and we thought, “Hey! That’s what we do, except with Bollywood movies!” So we made a little pun on the title and called our little shindig The Bolly Horror Picture Show.
We will be selling yummy Indian food as well, so you can fill your tummies before soaking yourselves in margaritas - or if you are too young for margaritas then look at this as a way for you to have fun on Cinco De Mayo, too ;)
This show is a fundraiser for Boom Boom. We have been invited to headline the Saturday night show at TribalFest this year and we are all broke! Your $10 entry fee and any food you buy will help us achieve that goal.
If you would like to wear Indian clothing, you will be eligible to win our costume contest!
I have attached the flyer, made by the lovely Gina Cinardo. Show starts at 8:00, doors open at 7:00.
