This reminds me of a dueling analogs cartoon where they outfit the guy in sensible heavy armor... then give the girl a bikini.
Anna's also got a short story with a similar premise in the book "Chick's Ahoy", originally in "Chicks in Chainmail".

Also, I'm swiping this to show to others.

I had a copy of Chicks in Chainmail. Unfortunately, I loaned it to someone, who loaned it to someone... and at some point, I just let it go. There was this story about a bra melting protest which was hilarious.

That's the story. They're burning the armored bras because they want real armor that actually protects them rather than makes them look "sexy".
