The lj post- mass email comparisson is really very accurate. And with, for example, a relationship break-up, it would seem pretty wierd to send a mass email to everyone you know which is likely to turn them against your ex.
I strongly agree with David about this whole issue. I think some people could make the world a far nicer place by putting a little more thought into what they write on their livejournals, and on other people's. At times it seems that the worst possible crime is not owning a livejournal.
