So everyone. Last weekend was THE WEDDING.
It was full of craziness, but pretty much the best wedding I've ever been to or heard of, if all the people I've spoken to are to be believed.
My weekend started Friday morning when I drove into the south-towns to get ECC to send my transcripts and stop off at the Dollar Store to buy decorations for the stool we were going to whip out during the wedding ceremony as a gag. (Marc is VERY tall and Kelly is much shorter) Then I drove home to Buffalo, collected Jen and we headed off to the rehearsal.
Rehearsal was so short it could have been called Rehe and I was left a little confuzzled about what were were really actually going to be doing the next day. I really couldn't care less though, Marc and Kelly looked amazing and I was so happy for them.
After Rehearsal we headed over to the Hyatt (which we'll call Base 1 for the remainder of the story) for the dinner. Dinner was yummy and awkward and everyone was lovely. After a lot of confusion and "what's everyone doing" talk it was decided that me and Jen would spend the night on the pull down bed in the living room of the beautiful suite Kelly got. We went back to the apartment to pick up clothes and stuff and headed back to Base 1. The other bride's maids were there working on Kelly's nails and our friend Eric was being loud and drinking. Kelly called it a night and everyone left, we changed into pjs and went to bed.
Cut to 7am (I hadn't really slept) and the wake-up call rang and we crawled out of bed. After an embarrassingly long and idiotic trip to Tim Hortons to pick up Tim Bits and Coffee for the bridal party (The Sat Nav lies!!!) then back to Base 1, we began the crazy getting ready process.
It all gets a bit scrambled and fuzzy here as we were running around doing everyone's make-up, hair and shimming into dresses and at some point the photographers showed up. It was weird at first but by the end you just got used to them being their. They were very nice and our girl photog was quite funny.
After we were dressed and ready to go we waited to get into the van (cue silly pictures in the lobby)to take us to the church and then had to wait in the van till the pastor guy came out to get us. This took forever, but our driver was this super nice goofy old guy and we had some silly moments to keep us busy. Marc walked by across the street while he was buying flowers for the moms/grandmoms and then passed by the van. We held the Pashmina's Kelly gave us up around her like a little tent to protect her from his view. Hilarious.
Then the pastor came out, we shuffled in and it began. The music was lovely and it was incredibly awkward walking down the aisle. Awful. Especially camera's in my face flashing my ugly mug and blinding me. The here comes Kelly! Oh it was so lovely! They started the ceremony proper and I think I didn't stop smiling for a second. Just grinning like a fool holding my bouquet. They are such an awesome twosome! At the end before the kiss Phil grabbed the step stool and brought it up to much laughter, except Marc's mom who rolled her eyes apparently.
When the ceremony was over we headed out for the greeting line thing and then a million photos, both at the church and at the freezing cold Delaware park. Everyone looked so amazing and we for the most part total champs about the weather. (Evetually I'll post some of the professional pics when they get them)
So yea, photos and then off to Pearl Street Grill for the reception.
The place was lovely and we all tried to get some food and drink in us (I know I had had like a tim bit and a reese cup since in the past 12 hours or so...) then they had us do the introduction to the Bridal Party.
We walked out to In The Mood (of course) and Kelly wanted us to dance out or something, embarrassingly I think I was the only one who did (maybe Karen did but I didn't see) I did the goofy finger thing. Haha. I'm a dork. The rest of the reception was dinner, desert, a lot of mingling, goofing, and in the case of me, Jen, Heather and Ron, DANCING.
The Bride/Groom dance was so beautiful.
Our DJ was fantastic, and with the exception of three or four songs (the couple dances mainly)I danced every song. There was this great moment when some Flogging Molly song was on and everyone went insane. It was awesome.
At some point the cake-cutting and garter/bouquet thing took place. The cake cutting was ultra romantic and adorable.
The garter/bouquet thing was hilarious and anti-climatic. Cue more dancing, and mingling.
It was a pretty much, as close to perfect reception/wedding as you can get (aside from certain raging drunkards and my getting physically assaulted on the dance floor by a 6 year old)
The last song played was "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish" for which I danced with the lovely Jen. It was a very nice ending to a terrific night. As we left Pearl Street the Sabers scored a goal and the whole bar cheered very loudly. Kelly was all "Go Sabers" in her wedding dress and everyone cheered again. So funny.
We walked along the metro rail till we got to a station to wait for the metro to come and take us up the road to Base 1. It was insanely cold and we all wandered around trying to keep our Bride warm. We got on the "subway" and looked right silly in our outfits. We got Kelly up to her Suite and out of the beautiful, albeit restricting dress she was wearing and took Marc and Tim back to the church to get their cars in mine, then parted ways for our own place.
I know I'm leaving out a lot of cool thing things unintentionally, and I am intentionally going to leave out certain stories of ill behavior, because this isn't the place for that. This is the place for saying SUPER HAPPY CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BEST COUPLE AROUND!!!!! You're my favorite people and I love you both!
