Your friend is a total genius and has perfectly articulated everything that I've been trying to say to people for the last week. I wish I knew who it was so I could beg them to add me to their friends list. AWESOME.

And I have to give you mad propz for how incredibly smart and mature you've been, both in your journal and to me personally. In fact, I shall give you said propz on my livejournal posthaste. :)

I think your friend is being far too optimistic and complacent. If nothing else, the potential economic effects of another four years of Bush are likely to be absolutely dreadful for everyone who's not already very rich. Also, abortion rights are going to be shot to hell. That's just a fact. I wouldn't be surprised to see more crackdowns on anti-Bush speech under the guise of the 'war on terror' either. As for running a minority candidate, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Obama running for national office in '08 or '12. However, that's hardly a ticket to an easy victory, since minorities vote overwhelmingly for Democrats already, and it would motivate the bigots to turn out for the Republicans. Same problem if the Dems run a female candidate ( ... )
