Glascock

Apr 27, 2007 10:04

Most of the Moho's on my list have probably heard of the Glascock Intercollegiate Poetry Contest but perhaps you're not clear on the dates, times, or extra goodies besides the student reading. Since I am on the committee I am responsible for at least telling my friends they should be coming, seriously though, it is a lot of fun.

So Today we have:
The judges' panel is at 3:00 in the Stimpson Room.
The student reading is in Gambel at 8:00.
After that, at 9:30, there is a reception in Willits that anyone can come to. If you're old enough and have an ID, you can even drink wine. Professors, poets, and wine, what could be better?

Tomorrow:
10:30: The announcement of the winner and the judges' reading.

There are six contestants, invited college students from various colleges as well as our own Sarah Twombly. The judges are W.D Snodgrass, Annie Boutelle and Elizabeth Alexander.

I am probably vacating my room for one of the contestants, so I had better go finish the cleaning now.

In other news, the birds really do start singing early, I started hearing them at 2:40 last night and spent much of the night dreaming that everyone who came to visit me in my room brought me several finches or pigeons and I had to close the window to keep them from flying away. In the dream, I woke up in the morning and found an orange bishop weaver finch with the beginnings of a nest in the arm of my bathrobe.
