Sent to MSNBC president Phil Griffin:

Dear Mr. Griffin,

It has come to my attention that Keith Olbermann has been suspended from MSNBC without pay for making unapproved political contributions, in violation of company ethics policies. I would find this understandable were the aforementioned policy applied fairly and consistently.

However, it has also come to my attention that MSNBC's Joe Scarborough made an unapproved $4200 contribution to Republican House candidate Derrick Kitts in March of 2006. No action was taken against Mr. Scarborough. No satisfactory explanation has been provided for the discrepancy.

In light of these facts, and in the best interests of MSNBC's reputation and the reputations of its parent corporations, I would strongly recommend that either Mr. Olbermann's suspension be lifted, or Mr. Scarborough be suspended as well; either action would be appropriate. Otherwise, the viewing public might be forced to conclude that a double standard is in place at your organization.

Sincerely,
(realname)
