Rounding the corner, a familiar raised voice had Ian stopping in his tracks for a moment before shaking his head and continuing down the corridor.
Walking into the reception hall, Ian saw his fiancé Nikki Betancourt standing in the middle of the room with her arms crossed. Her eyes tracked the design team that moved around her.
“I hope you’re not puttin’ those in the corner.” She glared at a man who passed by her with a bouquet of white roses in his hand.
Ian watched amused as the worker paled slightly and took a sharp turn to his left.
“Tormenting the workers?” He asked wrapping his arms around her waist.
Nikki snorted, her eyes following a woman walking in with white curtains. “They’re all imbeciles. I don’t know why I listened to Robin when she suggested them.”
“They do good work, or do you not remember that Don and Robin’s wedding looked amazing.”
“I didn’t forget, but if they continue like this, ours will look a mess.”
“Maybe they’ll do a better job if you stop criticizing their every move.”
Rolling her eyes, Nikki turned around in his arms. “Shouldn’t you always be on my side?”
“Your side?” Ian asked raising his eyebrow. “With your record of act first ask questions later?” Ian smirked. “Come on Nik, let the professionals do their job.”
“Professionals, sure.” Nikki scoffed, but she turned around and headed to the door.
As Nikki walked away, Ian took a moment to look around the room motioning to one of the workers.
“Your manager knows I’m the FBI’s best sniper and third best shot in the U.S. right?” Ian smirked as he watched the worker’s eyes bulge.
He was going to make sure Nikki didn’t torment the design crew anymore, but one last threat didn’t hurt.
