Nilo's Surprise

I have a friend who spins and dyes yarn. Her daughter is the most "girly girly" alive. This latest effort is to knit her daughter (9yrs)a ballet wrap sweater. So when she showed me this yarn and asked what I thought of it, I said NILO!!!The color is now known as Nilo pink :D ( Read more... )

Ooooooh... They're all different shades on my screen, and i like it that way. :) :) Very very very nice!

No one thought I should get silk and wool when I was 9.

LOL!! No kidding!!! No one thought that i was worthy of taking ballet lessons, either. Sheesh, the lives some people live!

Nilo, anyone should be so lucky to have a line of yarn named after them. ;)

That's pretty enough to eat. :D

I actually got pretty clothes when I was young. Trust me, it's the love and support (or lack of) that makes the most lasting impression. :|

Well my friend is from Charleston SC, where "girlyness" is a career choice :D And in true girly fashion she married a Navy Seal. So far she has produced two blue eyed curly haired blonds. The house is dripping with femininity. No wonder the poor man likes going out to sea, once in awhile. I told her she should rent the kids out to politicians as "family" They look like the poster family for every conservative pol out there. Actually they are all a bit daft. I think they have od on pink. While he loves his "girls" His family would probably be happier if she could manage a boy. I wonder how a boy would survive in that bubble of pink :D ( ... )

Natalie is an odd combination of girly/tomboy. She loves bugs, lizards, snakes and rocks, plays on a baseball team with the boys and ruins ever piece of clothing she owns. But, she also loves pink and lace and wearing dresses and fancy shoes and playing dress-up and ballet. It's a difficult combination becuase she always wants to wear girly clothes, but then destroys them on the first outing. I've found that blue jeans with rhinestones and embroidery is about the best way to go. Still, the rhinestones all disappear one-by-one.

That is a splendid color! Nilo is just the correct name.

Now, some tech questions. Is that 50/50 silk wool? What dyes is your friend using-I have died with commercial dyes, Kool-
Aide and Wilton's Cake dye so I am so nosey!

(by the way, there are splendid spinning/dying communities on LJ)

I'll ask Celeste. I don't think it is Kool Aide cause it doesn't smell like cherry or fruit. :D Of course she could have aired it out. I remember some watermelon smelling yarn once ;)
I'll tell her, but she isn't much for the internet.
