Mason-Dixon Knitting Baby Kimono in cotton thread. The nasty orangery bit in the background is a washcloth. I have no idea why I knitted that. A momentary madness :P

After the baby has outgrown it, you could always use it to wash up.
LOL! For some reason i find that very funny! :D Stylish but utilitarian. Multiple uses. i love it!
And it's kind of neat to see things swinging back to the home-making nesting sort of thing. Makes you hope that children in that generation have more of a parent presence?
I'm all for nesting, but it seems a rerun of the 60s maybe earlier. Every time some old lady in my family dies, I inherit all there "homemade" stuff. I have boxes of it. So I get a bit worried when I see great aunt Tessie's orange and green stuff coming back. I must be getting old. But that didn't stop me from buying some lime green and bright blue. After 20 years of muted "country" colors, it is a bit of a shocker. I hope these kids get parents also. "Go away brat, can't you see I am hand knitting you a heirloom blanket?" :D I now belong to the Dixie Sticks, southern knitters bloggers or something like that. :D
I am going to put snaps as the closure. I remember struggling with buttons. A girlie version has pink fuzzy yarn as trim. I worry about fuzzy yarn so near a babies face. But it has been awhile since I had a baby around here ;) I hope your leg is healing *hugs*
