i typically try to avoid name brand dogma, but canon ist zer gut.. still entertaining the idea that i'm waiting for the 5d to drop in price, or my income to rise signfiicantly.. till then i'm loving the negative scanner..
Oh that IS sexy, although a bit out of my price range as well (I felt something break when I clicked the "Confirm Order" button). I mainly purchased this because my other camera broke, and even though I found the service plan for it I had already started playing with the Somy A100 and this guy. There was no going back.
If you don't mind, could you show me the negative scanner on Friday if it is at your place? Also, do you develop your own negatives or have someone else do it? I used to do my own, but that was ages ago...
the xti is tops in it's price category.. you might want to look into a fixed length lense to go with it too, they tend to be much faster than zooms, are much sharper and a hell of a lot lighter, usually stick with my f1.8 50mm 99% of the time and it does me well..
As for film, I've been sticking with fuji superia 100 and 200 speed for color, for black and white stuff i've been using kodak bw400cn which is c-41 processed (same as color) drop it off at the relatively trustworthy 1 hour place down the block from work on my break and pick it up on the way home... I used to abhor color work, but my feelings are changing now.. the scanning can get time consuming but the dedicated neg scanner has made it a much more painless process..
i hate you, fucker. i want one of both of those and have been putting off the purchase of such forever... as even more of a tease i bought one of each of those for my ex as a christmas present last year, but still haven't gotten myself either! BAH.
