Almost too close
We're fine. House is fine. We were prepared and calm. But man, that was closer than it's ever gotten before. The pond had a layer of ash floating to top, but the fish appear to be just fine too.
back when it first started yesterday:

It was at this point that our friends that live in town started calling us:
From the driveway:
(it takes me about 7 minutes to get to where those flames are on an ordinary day)
...I had no idea just how many police/fire/emergency/huge freaking bulldozers there were in this town...
This morning:
The burnt area stops about 50 feet shy of the house at the end of the street. And now that house has a lovely, newly plowed road into their backyard courtesy of the forest service.
This isn't the first time we've been asked to evacuate, but never all night before.
Now to go back to the high school to volunteer some more.
