< Act 2-6 >
[A cut-in on a black background shows a pair of dandelions.]
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: My mother and I lived on the open road of an endless journey for as long as I can remember. Like dandelion seeds carried by the wind, we never stopped in any one place for long.
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: Mother wandered through Filgaia, ever searching for a certain place:
[The cut-in is replaced by an illustration of a dark temple-like place.]
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: The "Legacy Ruins".
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: A legendary set of ruins said to house a number of advanced technologies that were lost eons ago.
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: Certain that the ruins would hold the key to reversing Filgaia's progressive decay, my mother relentlessly pursued them, with me by her side.
[An illustration shows an immense crater.]
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: We wandered from one country to the next, researching the folklore and ancient texts of the land.
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: The long-forgotten technologies described in legends filled my young heart with wonder and excitement.
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: A machine that soars like a board... A new moon created by man... And a warrior cast from steel, holding a soul within...
[The screen turns black.]
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: A "golem".
[We see the illustration of the golem shielding the group again.]
[NARRATIVE (Clarissa)]: And now a golem has leapt from the pages of legend and landed in our reality...
[The red golem faces the guardsman.]
Steel Warrior: GRRRR...!!
Martial Guardsman: Waaah...!
[It lunges forward and grabs him by his throat.]
Martial Guardsman: Urngh!
[A cut-in shows the man's bag dropping to the ground; explosives roll out of it.]
Ragnar: Those are...
[Close-up on the explosives.]
Ragnar: High-powered Slayheim grenades... Only professionals use those! ...But I suppose we have more pressing matters at the moment...
Steel Warrior: GRRRR...!!
[Weisheit warps in next to the golem.]
Weisheit: I couldn't stand to see your body destroyed by such pedestrian weaponry.
Weisheit: You are mine to do with as I please, Felius. Mine and mine alone. I do hope you understand that.
Felius: --?!
Clarissa: Felius, you know him?
Felius: No...I've never seen this person before in my life!
Weisheit: Ah, yes... We haven't met before, have we? In that case, allow me to introduce myself.
Weisheit: My name is Weisheit. I am but a lowly merchant who had the great fortune to be permitted to deal with the royal family of Elesius.
Labyrinthia: Weisheit, the Death Merchant?! The dark side of the royal family, whispered about for ages...
Weisheit: Heh heh heh. I do prefer to keep a low profile, but there are certainly advantages to having one's name known.
Levin: What do you want with us?!
Weisheit: I don't seem to be receiving a particularly cordial welcome, despite my having just saved all of your lives.
Weisheit: I suppose that's fair. As you have so astutely inferred, I am, in fact, no ally of yours.
Clarissa: ...!
Weisheit: Perhaps you could do me the favor of entertaining my golem, Asgard, for a time? He won't bore you, I promise you that.
=D.E.R.=
Labyrinthia: Let's take a look at the Tactical Map we'll be fighting on.
Labyrinthia: We'll be starting here...
Labyrinthia: And the enemy line...well, to be more exact, it's only one unit this time.
But this is an ancient weapon...another concoction from Weisheit, the Death Merchant. Don't underestimate the threat it poses.
Labyrinthia: It'd be best to surround it and attack with a powerful mixture of Combination and Formation Arts, restricting its ability to react.
Labyrinthia: But its offense is still a complete mystery. If it does anything suspicious, fan out and prepare a response from a prudent distance.
Labyrinthia: This is a mechanized enemy unit we're dealing with...so you should know what to do. Hit it where it hurts, and this one's in the bag!
Asgard: GRRRR...!
[The battle ends when Asgard is defeated.]
Weisheit: Please forgive my intrustion, but I fear that it is nearly time for us to withdraw.
Levin: You're running away?!
Weisheit: As you are not my enemies, I see no reason to consider this "running".
Weisheit: I have simply...fulfilled the task that was requested of me.
Weisheit: It has been a great pleasure to distract you until the Grauswein set-up could be completed.
Weisheit: Although in truth, I am wrapping up a little earlier than requested, in order to make the game ahead slightly more interesting...
Clarissa: Grauswein...?
Weisheit: Like Asgard, Grauswein was excavated from an era long past. A relic weapon, you might say.
Weisheit: The plan is to obliterate you, along with an entire city district, by summoning a tactical mass-annihilation device that detonates with a searing flash before dispersing fatal toxins.
Ragnar: A mass-annihilation device?!
Labyrinthia: They're summoning that in the capital city?
Levin: Heh... And why are you telling us this?
Levin: Now all we have to do is stay away from your mass tactical whatever and we're safe!
Weisheit: But I expect you will head for the Grauswein device nonetheless.
Clarissa: ...
Clarissa: If we don't stop that explosion, the lives of countless people who live in the capital will be lost...
[Levin makes a derp face.]
Weisheit: Well said, Princess. You have far more concern for the peasantry than any of the elder statesmen do.
Clarissa: Is there nothing you monsters wouldn't do?!
Weisheit: The Grauswein summoning apparatus is being erected in the plaza just ahead. You have precious little time to waste.
Felius: ...
[Weisheit brings a hand to his forehead, grinning manically.]
Weisheit: What a beautiful face you have, Felius... I hope you'll do whatever it takes to stop that bomb.
Weisheit: Our long journey is far from its end...and it is not my intent to lose you so soon. Survive, and make me happier still!
Felius: Who the hell...
Weisheit: I am "I". Just as you are "you".
Weisheit: I want you to writhe ceaselessly in the prison of torment that I have devised...
[Weisheit brings his other hand to cover his face, a single reddish eye shining through the shadow cast by his bangs.]
Weisheit: And at the precise moment when pain has devoured you completely--I shall have your body as my own.
Felius: ...
[Asgard and Weisheit warp away.]
Clarissa: Felius...
Felius: I have no idea... But right now we have to hurry! We have to stop them from summoning Grauswein!
Felius: Quickly, to the plaza! Levin, lead the way!
Levin: Gotcha! It's right this way. Everyone, follow me!
[They set off in direction of the plaza. Ragnar stays behind, staring at the grenades.]
Ragnar: ...
-King Hrathnir's Chamber-
[Katrina enters the room, only to see that her father is not in bed.]
Katrina: Father...? Where did you go?
[The screen fades to black and the player is prompted to save.]
