< Act 3-3 >
[On the world map, a path from Crestabelde forms to The Frozen Lands, marked with a red !.]
Levin: Everyone, over here! You can still see the wheel ruts in the snow!
Labyrinthia: Then that must be the way to the Guardian Temple...
Ragnar: Look how fast they were traveling. They must have been concerned about us getting in their way.
Clarissa: We'd better hurry...
Alexia: Katrina...
Clarissa: She'll be all right, Alexia. It'll all work out.
[They turn and get on their guard as they hear a sound.]
Clarissa: --!
Levin: Will they never give up?!
[Some kinsmen and Chelle appear in front of them.]
Chelle: You will go no further, Chevalet Blanc! I will have your heads for the humiliation the kinship has suffered at your hands!
Ragnar: Is blocking our way really want you want to be doing?
Chelle: What is that supposed to mean?!
Ragnar: You are a people passionate in thought and deed, and yet you allow the Council to toss you in our path, as if you were nothing more than a wall with which to hinder us!
Chelle: We are implements to be used, Ragnar Blitz Lebrett. The ways of the battlefield are all we know!!
=D.E.R.=
Labyrinthia: Let's take a look at the Tactical Map we'll be fighting on.
Labyrinthia: We'll be starting here...
Labyrinthia: And the enemy line looks like this.
Labyrinthia: Our primary objective here is to defeat Chelle...but she isn't the only concern we have to deal with.
We'll also have to face off against three Vodianoi. Just one of them would be a fearsome foe by itself.
Let's begin by incapacitating the Vodianoi.
Labyrinthia: By "incapacitate", I don't necessarily mean we have to defeat them.
For example, if we cast a Fire spell on these blocks, they'll turn into impassable clumps of ice shards.
If we do this right, we'll be able to confront Chelle without having to lay a finger on the Vodianoi.
Labyrinthia: Meanwhile, casting a freeze spell on a clump of ice shards will turn it back into a passable ice column.
Labyrinthia: Use the geography to your advantage. That's the key to taking care of both Chelle and the Vodianoi here.
[The battle ends when Chelle has been defeated. Ragnar stands before her as she's on her knees; she gets up.]
Ragnar: Even if you are forced to act as implements of battle, I see you as the men and women you are. That's why I'm asking you this!
Chelle: --!
Ragnar: If you have the will to answer, then that proves the existence of your own free will...
And if you possess your own free will, then I swear I'll never let anyone use you like this again.
Chelle: ...
Ragnar: ...Who's that?!
[Behind them is Piedras in his wheelchair.]
Chelle: Our leader... Piedras Blancas.
Piedras: ...
[A group of kinsmen appear and surround the rest of the party that have been standing back.]
Levin: Whoooaaa! Are they trying to drown us, or what?!
Labyrinthia: Ordinarily it's a good strategy. But--Ragnar!
Ragnar: I'm on it!
[Ragnar throws his boomerang and hits Piedras. Chelle steps towards him.]
Piedras: --!
Chelle: Piedras Blancas!!
Ragnar: I admire your spirit... The leader of the Zortroa, standing on the battlefield his own people fight on!
But I'm afraid I can't ignore what you've done... You took people and turned them into...*things*! And I'm not about to let you pass without comment!
[He throws his boomerang again; Chelle jumps up to rejoin Piedras before he's hit again, but the screen turns white as it sounds like his boomerang has been deflected. Weisheit now stands in front of Piedras, sword in hand.]
Ragnar: No...?!
Weisheit: Oh, yes. Crazy, isn't it?
[Chelle hurries to Piedras' side.]
Clarissa: I never thought I'd see you actually try to protect someone...
Weisheit: That pains me to hear. Did you think me incapable of acting for the sake of my friends?
Clarissa: ...Your friends?!
Weisheit: Once, there was a group of twelve who banded together to save the world. I was one of them.
That was where I learned of the comfort found in warm friendship...and of the twisted morals that led to their ultimate doom.
Felius: ...?!
Chelle: ...What do you intend to do here?
Weisheit: Leave here... Leave, and take your beloved leader with you.
Chelle: I said, what do you intend to do here?!
Weisheit: Me? Well...let's just say I'm doing what I've always wanted to do.
Chelle: ...
Chelle: ...
Piedras: ...
Chelle: I fear for the chieftain's injuries... It...it's up to you now...!
[Chelle and Piedras warp away, and so do the kinsmen. Weisheit steps closer to where Ragnar is and draws his sword again.]
Weisheit: Well, Chevalet Blanc... Shall we begin?
=D.E.R.=
Labyrinthia: Let's take a look at the Tactical Map we'll be fighting on.
Labyrinthia: We'll be starting here...
Labyrinthia: And we have a single opponent to deal with: Weisheit, the Death Merchant.
Either he has serious confidence in his skills...or he has a trap or some other strategy in mind.
Labyrinthia: As long as we don't know his plan of action, we'll need to exercise extreme caution in our maneuvers.
Take the skills you've cultivated and use them to build a party with the most powerful offense--and most impervious defense--you can muster.
Weisheit: I'm afraid I don't work very well in the limelight... Let's get this taken care of as quickly as possible.
[The battle ends when Weisheit has been defeated.]
Weisheit: Heh heh heh...hah hah hah hah hah! What a wonderful world Filgaia was... It's enough to make me regret leaving it behind...
Hah hah hah hah! Ahh hah hah hah hah hah...
[Weisheit falls to his knees and then collapses to the ground. His body glows a golden light and disappears.]
Levin: What was that all about? Why would that guy...
Felius: ...
[Chelle and Piedras watch on from a distance.]
Chelle: Was it truly Weisheit's desire to die in order to protect us...?
Piedras: ...
Chelle: ...
Chelle: As you say, Piedras Blancas. We shall bide our time until your wounds have healed. And then we shall do what needs to be done to win back our country...
[They withdraw.]
-Guardian Temple-
Edna: It's freezing up here... The heated stones in my pockets are barely helping at all!
Katrina: Is this...
Charlton: The Guardian Temple. Where you will undergo the Rite of Divine Coalescence.
Katrina: ...
Edna: Don't just stand there and gape, puppet princess! The sooner you complete the ritual, the sooner you'll be able to resolve all of Elesius's troubles.
Katrina: I...I could stop the fighting...?
Edna: Of course you could! Once you're officially heir to the throne of Elesius, you'll have the power to tidy up all sorts of problems.
Katrina: ...
Charlton: Your Highness Katrina Liane Elesius, Princess of Elesius... Shall we proceed?
[The screen fades to black and the player is prompted to save.]
