The corn cob thing will appeal to some of the new community gardeners who are learning new lifestyles. Try craig's list or Lawrence freecycle. As you purge, sort by aluminum (don't keep) and stainless steel (keep). I learned from a neighbor's experience that decision is the difference between fire and smoke. Aluminum catches fire faster. Canning and freezing supplies can be stored till the season, but replacing them will cost you a bundle. So ask yourself if you will honestly use them at least once a year.
